Corporate Social Responsibility

Our corporate social responsibility initiative is structured to promote and support research and development and advances in petroleum engineering, geosciences, artificial intelligence, and applied mathematics among engineers, scientists, students, and their lecturers.

Within the past six years, we have supported various institutions of higher learning in Nigeria by donating our innovative software and delivering specialised lectures with the aim of improving their technical knowledge and enhancing academic research. The lectures were generally targeted at leveraging applied mathematics principles and smart computing to improve the management of oil and gas assets. We guided and encouraged students and lecturers to align their academic research with current and emerging industry needs to keep them relevant to the global industry.

So far, we have donated a total of 177 licenses of SEPAL, Well Reservoir and Facility Management (WRFM) solution, worth $13.5 million, to various institutions of higher learning in Nigeria including University of Port Harcourt, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, University of Ibadan, University of Benin, Nile University, Abuja, African University of Science and Technology, Abuja, Institute of Petroleum Studies, Uniport, Centre of Excellence in Geosciences and Petroleum Engineering, Uniben, and Petroleum Training Institute, Warri. In order to achieve quick entrenchment of a new paradigm in smart asset management techniques and research approaches, we also trained the students on the use of the software to prepare them for critical present and future industry demands.

Beyond the institutions of higher learning, we also took our conscientization on technology-driven efficiency to the oil and gas industry by sponsoring technical events organized by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). Themes of some of the technical sessions sponsored include:

  • Application of advanced WRFM analytics in asset performance optimization
  • Generalized revenue model for realistic production forecast
  • Oil and gas asset value maximization using appropriate business models
  • Cracking the code – programming essentials for the oil and gas professionals
We shall continually commit more resources towards bridging the digital gap in Africa through several technical capacity development support initiatives.
